Il Petrosedum forsterianum è una pianta succulenta perenne appartenente alla famiglia delle Crassulaceae, diffusa spontaneamente in Europa, in particolare nelle regioni mediterranee e atlantiche. Cresce formando cuscini compatti o tappeti erbosi, con fusti prostrati o ascendenti che possono radicare ai nodi, rendendola una specie tappezzante molto utile nei giardini rocciosi. Le foglie sono piccole, carnose e cilindriche, disposte a spirale lungo i fusti, di colore verde glauco con possibili sfumature rossastre in condizioni di forte insolazione. In estate la pianta si ricopre di fiori stellati giallo brillante, molto numerosi, che attraggono insetti impollinatori. È una specie molto rustica, resistente al freddo e alla siccità, capace di crescere anche su terreni poveri, muri a secco e rocce.
