La salvia greggii, conosciuta comunemente come salvia di Gregg, è una pianta perenne arbustiva appartenente alla famiglia delle Lamiaceae e originaria del Texas e del Messico settentrionale. Ha un portamento compatto e cespuglioso, con fusti sottili e ramificati che si lignificano alla base e conferiscono alla pianta una struttura ordinata ma leggera. Le foglie sono piccole, ovali o leggermente lanceolate, di colore verde scuro, aromatiche al tatto e spesso leggermente rugose sulla superficie. La fioritura è uno degli aspetti più ornamentali: si protrae dalla tarda primavera fino all’autunno inoltrato e regala una successione continua di fiori tubolari, disposti in spighe erette, che possono presentare una grande varietà di colori a seconda della cultivar, dal rosso brillante al rosa, dal viola al bianco. Per la sua rusticità, la resistenza al caldo e alla siccità e la lunga fioritura è molto utilizzata nei giardini mediterranei e naturalistici, dove attira farfalle
