La Crassula rupestris, conosciuta anche come “Collana di Bottoni”, è una pianta succulenta ornamentale originaria del Sudafrica e della Namibia. È caratterizzata da piccoli fusti ramificati che crescono in modo eretto o pendente, rendendola perfetta sia per vasi che per composizioni sospese. Le foglie, carnose e triangolari, crescono opposte lungo i fusti, dando l’impressione di una spirale o di una catena — da qui il suo nome comune.
Il colore delle foglie varia dal verde chiaro al verde-grigiastro, con margini rosati o rossi che diventano più intensi se la pianta riceve molta luce solare. Durante la tarda primavera e l’estate, la Crassula rupestris produce piccoli fiori bianchi o rosati, riuniti in grappoli terminali, che attraggono insetti impollinatori. È una specie molto resistente alla siccità, ideale per chi desidera una pianta decorativa ma di facile manutenzione. Predilige terreni ben drenati e un’esposizione luminosa, anche in pieno sole.
