L’Echeveria shaviana è una splendida pianta succulenta originaria degli altopiani del Messico, appartenente alla famiglia delle Crassulaceae. È molto apprezzata per la sua forma elegante e ornamentale: forma rosette compatte di foglie carnose, leggermente ondulate ai bordi, che le conferiscono un aspetto delicato e quasi “ricamato”. Le foglie, di colore grigio-verde con riflessi azzurri, assumono toni rosati o lilla quando la pianta è esposta a pieno sole o a sbalzi di temperatura tra il giorno e la notte.
Durante l’estate, produce sottili steli fiorali che si elevano sopra la rosetta e portano piccoli fiori campanulati, dai toni vivaci di rosa, arancio e giallo. È una pianta che ama il calore, teme i ristagni d’acqua e cresce bene in terreni molto drenanti. Ideale per terrazzi soleggiati, giardini rocciosi o collezioni di piante grasse.
