Il Sedum makinoi è una pianta succulenta tappezzante appartenente alla famiglia delle Crassulaceae, originaria del Giappone. Ha portamento strisciante o ricadente, ideale per coprire il terreno, riempire giardini rocciosi o decorare vasi sospesi. I fusti sono sottili e ramificati, ricoperti da piccole foglie carnose, tondeggianti e leggermente appiattite, disposte in modo fitto. A seconda della varietà, le foglie possono essere verde brillante oppure giallo-dorate. In estate la pianta produce piccoli fiori a stella di colore giallo acceso, riuniti in infiorescenze compatte che attirano api e insetti impollinatori. È molto rustica, resistente sia al caldo sia al freddo moderato, e richiede pochissime cure, adattandosi bene anche a terreni poveri e sassosi. Grazie alla sua crescita rapida e alla capacità di radicare lungo i nodi dei fusti, forma in breve tempo tappeti densi e ornamentali.
